Denver Days 2015: Starts on September 30th

The Denver Days Committee of The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club regrets to announce that ALL activities scheduled for FRIDAY and SATURDAY have been canceled due to the approach of Hurricane Joaquin and the forecasted inclement weather for the area. The inaugural Community Heroes 5k and Fun Run, scheduled for Saturday morning, have also been canceled. The Governor of North Carolina, Pat McCrory, has issued a state of emergency for all counties in North Carolina ahead of flooding rain expected through the weekend.  In an effort to ensure the safety of our vendors, musicians, participants, volunteers and loyal visitors, the Denver Days Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel ALL activities for Friday and Saturday.

Denver Days will be open for RIDES as planned today (Thursday), but there will not be any live entertainment. Food will also be available to purchase.

We hope you will come out with your families tonight and enjoy the evening. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you.

Joe Lampron

Denver Days Committee Chair

Welcome to Denver Days!

Denver Days is a community festival in Denver, NC started in 2003 by a group of local leaders who wanted to build a park in Denver. It has grown into a four day festival with Wednesday and Thursday nights having rides and entertainment and then Friday night and Saturday from noon to 10:00pm with rides, entertainment and food and a variety of vendors. Denver Days, Inc. is a non-profit tax-exempt organization whose members come from the membership of the local Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club. The Rotary Club sponsors Denver Days and provides the majority of the volunteer hours needed to put on this annual festival.

Denver Days will be once again located in “downtown Denver” at the corner of St. James Church Road and Highway 16.

The festival will open at 5 PM on Wednesday, September 30th and run through Saturday evening October 3rd. Come ride the rides and have some thrills. There is something for nearly everyone. Walk the midway and play some games of chance.  Visit the craft and jewelry vendors and the all the local businesses who will be on hand to showcase their goods or services.  Great food will be on hand and we will have music every night!

Wednesday and Thursday nights offer rides at a special price for our school children and coupons will be distributed to Lincoln County Schools. Friday the vendors move in and we become a small town for the weekend! For a complete listing of our events, check back. It continues to grow.

Denver Days is a project of the Denver/ Lake Norman Rotary Club and all net proceeds from the festival go toward the new “Rescue Park.”

2014 Recap

This year, Denver Days was excited to have Craig Woolard as the Saturday night entertainment. This was the second time Craig has been to Denver Days. We hope everyone who attended enjoyed the Craig Woolard concert experience!

The 2014 festival was the 12th annual Denver Days, and the Denver Days Board looks for suggestions to make 2015 even better.  Suggestions come from the Board and from the Rotary Club, and we would love suggestions from you!  Anything you feel should be continued, anything you feel should be started or stopped or any changes please let us know.  You can post or email info@denverdays.com. The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club has managed Denver Days for the last 3 years, with 100% of the net revenue going directly to the “East Lincoln Rescue Park” and we should be ready to have a ground breaking for the park in 2014.  By coming and having fun at Denver Days, you are helping the park construction!  Now, isn’t that a great deal? Thanks to everyone who came and had a good time.  Thanks for the Special Needs Kids who had a great time Thursday afternoon.  Thanks to the bands, all the vendors and businesses, the sponsors, advertisers and all the volunteers who made this happen! We’re now planning the 2015 festival, and it’s time for your suggestions.  We would love to hear from you!

Thanks to Our 2014 Sponsors

Recap of Special Needs Kids Day

You should have seen the excitement on the kid’s faces when Hecht Development and The Hecht Team Real Estate sponsored the “Special Needs Kids Day” which was Thursday afternoon. The parents would come to the registration table so we could give a wristband for the free rides, tokens ($1.00 value each) so they could buy up to $5.00 of cotton candy, popcorn, snow cone, any food we had. J.K. Cones had a card worth one free soft-serve ice cream cone for each – thanks to Jack Funk! They rode the rides and all had a big time, and when leaving were treated by a stuffed animal from Cole Rides. Most were asleep in the car as they pulled out! The Hecht Team has sponsored this event for several years and both Nicole and Bob Hecht said they wanted to be involved forever; just a great afternoon for everyone! Thanks also to Linda Hecht. Wednesday afternoon during Denver Days is reserved for a Special Time for Special Needs Kids and we just love to show you a great time! We invite your parents to bring you to Denver Days, and bring your brothers and sisters also. Most of the rides will be open and free, plus food and drinks are on the house. No crowds, little or no lines, parking is close for you and from what we have heard and seen the past years, this time is very special. Hearing the parents say “thanks” and explain how their son or daughter cannot go to Denver Days without this time being set aside. “The crowds are just too large” is what we hear, along with stories of a child riding the ferris wheel for the very first time! “My Dad and I love kids and ask to sponsor this event every year” said Nicole Hecht of The Hecht Team, sponsors of the Special Needs Kids Day. “Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter and just seeing everyone enjoy themselves is worth the preparation time and the afternoon at the festival” continued Hecht. Nicole and her Dad work as “The Hecht Team Real Estate” with Coldwell Banker United, Realtors Denver office. The Special Needs Kids day is Wednesday from 1 PM to 3 PM and is open to all special needs kids and their immediate families and we would love for you to join us! For the information flyer and to RSVP please email Nicole or Bob at hechtteam@cbunited.com. You can call Bob at 704-634-4444 or Nicole at 704-309-7883. Please RSVP so we can plan!

Cole Rides back for 2015

For several years, Denver Days has enjoyed a successful relationship with Cole Rides, known as Virginia’s “Finest in Family Entertainment.” Cole brings us a variety of rides from those designed for the very small ones to the rides that we adults have more sense than to ride! Their rides are modern, well-maintained and are inspected so you know safety comes first and that’s important. Cole has been in the amusement business for over 20 years and does a great job! Each ride is priced separately and individual ride tickets or blocks of tickets may be purchased from the ticket booth, just through the Rotary Club Welcome tent. The lines tend to get a little long, so go ahead and buy those extra tickets; just saves going back to get more and you save money! Cole also brings their carnival midway with games and plenty of food. They have the “county fair” food that lots of us remember, from popcorn and cotton candy to ice cream and funnel cakes!
