Greetings Rotarians,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a chance to enjoy nature’s glory and the lush green landscape that spring has so kindly brought us.

This week the world will be celebrating nature with Earth Day on Wednesday. This annual event focuses on environmental protection and sustainability. The global theme for 2026 is "Our Power, Our Planet," centering on empowering communities to drive environmental change through local action, education, and advocacy. The theme is a perfect fit for Rotarians, who are people of action with a love for advocacy and improvement in our local community.

I want to share with you a program that is very near and dear to our District Governor Elect Paige Scott’s heart, Operation Pollination, which is part of the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group’s (ESRAG). Operation Pollination is a simple 7th Area of Focus Environmental Framework — and growing Rotary “Movement “– that enables and encourages Rotarians to engage in pollinator protection and education projects.

I was so excited when DGE Paige introduced us to this amazing mission at PETS. For me some of the most beautiful and hope filled moments I experience every summer is the simple pleasure of watching and appreciating the bumblebees that visit the blooming flowers in my lavender garden. Seeing these highly active pollinators forage for the plant’s abundant nectar and pollen is truly magical. They are so busy transferring pollen between blooms, facilitating plant reproduction while gathering food and supporting our local ecosystem. We can all support pollination through the simple act of planting a few flowers in our own gardens or even joining Rotarians worldwide who are inspiring and equipping their communities to create pollinator habitats to help save and protect these busy and wonderous pollinators.

I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday and celebrating Earth Day and all the good we do and are capable of together. Until then, Bee good.

Kindest Regards,

Trudie

Now is the Time to Recruit Guests for Race for Philanthropy

As we get closer to Race For Philanthropy, a quick reminder that if you are attending, we are generally assuming you will also be helping with a volunteer role during the evening. It takes a lot of people doing small jobs well to make the event work, and Rotary involvement is a big part of that.

Rotarians are encouraged to invite their significant other to attend. If your significant other is coming, we also would encourage them to also invite at least one couple or two individuals who would genuinely enjoy the evening and appreciate the purpose behind it — people who value community, generosity, and the kind of work our Foundation supports. The goal is simply to continue building the right audience, because who's there matters.

Everyone attending must register in advance by typing raceforphilanthropy.com/rsvp into a web browser exactly as shown. Please do not add “www.” before the address.

A few registration notes:
  • Significant others and their guests should register as “Host’s Guest”
  • Every Rotarian is listed on the host list by first initial and full last name
  • Significant others and their guests should select your name as their host

One small note: the host list is pulled directly from our Rotary database, so if the first initial you commonly use differs from what appears in Rotary records, please let Ross know so guests can find you easily when registering.

This simply helps us keep registrations organized and tied to the right host as they come in.

Thank you for helping make this a thoughtful, well-shaped evening that does real good for our community.
