President's Message

Season’s Greetings Rotarians,

Rotary International's Christmas message centers on unity, goodwill, love, peace, gratitude, and community. It also encourages us to reflect on our impact, renew our commitment to helping others, and enjoy time with family and friends while spreading kindness and hope during the holidays and into the new year here in our own community and around the world.

Every week when I walk into our Wednesday meeting or attend a Rotary event with you all, I can most sincerely say that I instantly feel gratitude for all of you and the goodwill you embody and share with others. I also feel the gifts of love, peace and the sense of community: belonging, connection and support – all fundamental human needs.

We can further share in that gift of community as we gather this week on Wednesday morning, at the Rotary Christmas Around the World Party, and the Daar’s Holiday Open House. In the two weeks that follow we will not meet on Wednesdays, rather it is a time for you to spend with your nearest and dearest and remember those who are important to you. It is a time to celebrate your own Christmas and holiday traditions and welcome in the New Year.

I wish you all love, peace and joy this Christmas and thank you from the bottom of my heart for gift that you each are to our Rotary family, our community, your friends and loved ones, and our world.

May all that is beautiful, meaningful, and brings you joy be yours this holiday season and throughout the coming year.

Love,

Trudie

2025 USO "Helmet Fund" Campaign is Best Ever
We are so grateful to announce that Denver/Lake Norman Rotary has once again generously supported the USO in its Holiday for Troops Campaign. Our thanks go to Jim Minor for collecting donations.

After a few last minute Rotarian Benefactors stepped up, the Club concluded our 2025 USO ‘Holiday for the Troops’ fundraiser with a whopping total of $1,652!! This is the largest USO donation we’ve ever made, for which the USO and all the men and women serving in Uniform far from their homes and Families this holiday season sincerely THANK YOU all!!

Shoe Donations for "Shuz for Santa Cruz 2026" Continue This Wednesday
Jim and Ash Minor will be going on a Building Mission trip to Guapiles, Costa Rica in January with the Men's Mission Team from the Weddington UMC. They will once again carry any donated shoes for distribution to the underserved rural communities surrounding Guapiles, notably Santa Cruz. Jim will be collecting donated shoes at our weekly meetings through January 7th. Any and all "gently used" shoes for infants, toddlers, adolescents, men and women are welcome. This area is 700 miles north of the Equator and it's HOT there year-round, so no winter footwear please!! Thanks to our Club for their perennial support of this great humanitarian shoe donation program!!
