President's Message

Dear Rotarians,

I hope you have enjoyed the beautiful, crisp Fall weather that has crept in over the weekend.

Autumn is a particularly beautiful season (especially here in North Carolina). Leaves and our landscape change from verdant green into a kaleidoscope of rich colors that remind us that we are amongst abundance – the golden yellow leaves of the poplar, russet orange of the mighty oak and the stunning crimson leaves of the maple tree.

Autumn is traditionally a time of harvest, and the falling leaves are linked with gathering the fruits of our labor, thankfulness and gratitude. It is a season of such incredible beauty that I hope you find many moments to be still and present and reflect upon the blessings that surround us. Those blessings are plentiful, and I count you all, my fellow Rotarians and friends among them.

I am still in awe of our Rotary’s generous spirit and the desire to support children’s health and their freedom from the fear of polio, which resulted in a bounty of spectacular silent auction baskets for PolioPlus. The PolioPlus & 30th Anniversary Wine Pairing event was fantastic and magnified that generosity. It was an evening of camaraderie, celebration and giving. DG Alpo and DGE Paige Scott kindly attended to support us and the campaign to end polio. Thank you so much to them and to each and everyone of our Rotarians who planned, shared, encouraged, set up, attended, donated, participated, packed up…to make this wonderful event happen and such a success.

Our Rotary’s spirit of giving is visible in the acts of kindness shared with one another and the community, gentle words of support and care, embracing and encouraging each other’s gifts and talents and presence, kind hearts and selfless compassion. Thank you all. I am so grateful to you.

With Gratitude,

Trudie
