President's Message
Hello Rotarians!

Good program last week by Ron Majors telling us the remarkable story of the Montagnards and their community within our area. It is an impressive story of the persecution and torture that they endured to hold true to their beliefs and religion.

We do a FANTASTIC job with service in the area - no question. But from time to time, it’s ok to have a “fun” meeting not on the topic of some of our many projects.
This week will be one of those meetings. Scott Fowler, Denver resident and lead sports columnist for the Charlotte Observer, will be at our club to share his views and always entertaining opinion of the Charlotte area sports scene.

Invite a co-worker, friend etc. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a guest come in to see the great group of people we have  and what we do in our community!

Also, REGULAR BOARD MEETING this Friday @ 7:30 (zoom).

Yours in Rotary,
Perry Clark

USO Helmet Fund's Wildly Successful Campaign Continues in November
Denver/Lake Norman Rotary's Jim Minor reports that the USO "Helmet Fund" has already taken in $500 PLUS several really generous donor commitments and “matching challenges” from Ross Bulla and other club members.  Jim says "the response this year has been totally awesome!!"  He also notes that that he needs to receive any cash or check donations intended for the FedEx 1:1 match on or before November 9 and that checks should be written to "The USO".  Also, that all donations are fully TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!

Lastly, This year for its Holidays for the Troops program, the USO has added an option called "Long Distance Bedtime Stories," in which deployed parents have a chance to record bedtime stories for their children at home.  The USO works to make this, and its other 'amenities services', available even to those men and women serving in forward operating bases ["FOBs"]......in other words, out there on the "front lines".
