The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club was honored to assist in a memorial for Bob Rowell at its meeting on Wednesday, September 29th. Bob was a Denver Lake Norman Rotary member for twenty years. He was very active in the club and was involved with many programs in the Rotary Community. Bob worked with Junior Achievement in Charlotte and brought the Junior Achievement program for 3rd graders to most of the elementary schools in Lincoln County. These programs continue today in the schools but have been put on hold due to COVID restrictions. Plans are underway for the program to hopefully resume for the 2022 school year.
Bob’s wife Carol told us about the beautiful ceremony that was held at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia. A memorial table displayed photos of Bob and medals he had received during his time in the service. Bob worked on several NASA projects as a Senior Engineering Scientist and was the Executive Director of both the National Art Materials Trade Association and the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association.
A special thanks goes out to Dean Black for working with Carol to plan this memorial as well as to Reverend Ronald Taylor of St. Peter by-the-Lake Episcopal Church for his message. Also in attendance were Bob’s and Carol’s good friends, Dave and Nancy Pittinaro, and Bill Baker who had shared many adventures with Bob. Several fellow Rotarians also stood and offered their stories and experiences that they had shared with Bob,

We all may not be beautiful (like some of us) but we will look good and show our support for Rotary!
