Well, it was great hearing from our new member, Mike Pugh who gave us a great background of himself complete with family, professional and previous Rotary experience. Mike is a personal friend of mine and I would encourage you to get to know him. Debbie Perry will be discussing her background at a future meeting.
This week we have, always entertaining, Trudie Crawford (“the pride of New Zealand”) talking about various projects that are coming up. Also, Ken Fay will be introduced as our newest member!
See you bright and early on Wednesday morning!

New Member David Pugh Introduces Himself to Rotary
By Steve Baker
The Denver Lake Norman Rotary welcomed new member David Pugh as its speaker on Wednesday, September 21st.
After many career moves, David and his wife Andrea have settled in Denver as their home. They have a daughter and twin boys. While living in Wilmington, NC, David joined the Wilmington Rotary where he spent five years until his next job relocation. He received the Wilmington Rotary’s “1992 Rotarian of the Year” award.
Dave enjoys playing golf and plays with several of our Rotarian members. We appreciate that he has already jumped in and is participating in club projects.
2022 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Lincoln County Rotary Student Loan Fund. For thirty years, the Rotary Clubs of Lincoln County have helped graduates of Lincoln County high schools gain their post-high school education dreams. The clubs created the fund to offer low interest loans to students, while offering area Rotarians the opportunity to put the Service Above Self Rotary Motto into action. Over the years the Lincoln County Rotary Student Loan Fund has fundraised more than $2.7 million and loaned over $7.2 million to more than 850 students from Lincoln County. In addition to the Rotary Student Loan Fund, the organization recently launched a new scholarship program, Rotary Rooted, partnering with area high schools to help students gain access to Gaston College classes while attending high school. The Rotary Rooted program covers fees and book costs for students that need assistance.
