Happy Monday my beloved Rotarians! I cannot believe the time has come for me to write my last message for the Newsletter as President of Denver/Lake Norman Rotary. For those that missed yesterday’s wonderful end of year celebration I will reiterate that this has been a year of finding or reviving old skills that I never thought I had or had lost somewhere along the way. Initially, I would wake up on Wednesday mornings and think to myself “why, on earth, would these do-gooders have me as lead dog?” We all have self doubt that can rear its head, and I am no different - even as a 50 something year old woman whose kids consider “tough”. (Although being a new grandmother has softened that toughness quite a bit). In the end I had a job to do and I refused to let that self-doubt get in the way of doing what was asked of me. The LAST people on earth I would want to disappoint is my family - and you ARE my family! So thank you to everyone for all of their knowledge, participation and hard work. And thank you for helping me to live the 4 Way Test! In my opinion, they are the best words to try to live by.
I wanted to have fun this year, and boy did we ever. I also see great opportunities for more projects and fun in 2024-2025. Let's stay out there letting our communities see all of the good Rotary does in the world. Looking ahead I know we are in the very capable hands of Craig. He and the board are ready to hit the ground running. I can’t wait for them to share their goals in the coming weeks. I will be so happy to help in any way possible, as he did for me this past year. Please know any of you can call on me for anything. Questions about Rotary projects - call me! Rotary leadership opportunities - call me! Looking for a place to grab a great glass of wine - call me! I am not going anywhere as you people are my home!
With heartfelt admiration and gratitude always...Cheers!
Andie
