A Message From Your Humble Scribe Regarding Ukraine
By Craig Buhrendorf

Last Friday, March 11th I had the privilege of sitting in on a Zoom meeting held by the Rotary of Avon-Canton, Connecticut, where I was a member from 1998 to 2019.  The guest presenters were two Rotarians, one speaking from his home in a suburb just south of Kyiv and the other speaking from her home just over the border in Slovakia.  It was a very moving presentation and you can view the first 15 minutes of if you click on the first link below.  If you are a Dropbox user or sign up for a free account, you can view the entire presentation which runs just under one hour.  Also, If you are interested in supporting Rotary's Ukraine Relief Effort, please click on the second link below.

Ain’t it Great to be Back Home Again!

By Steve Baker

The Denver Lake Norman Rotary Club was feeling really good about being "back home" again at Unity Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, March 9th.  It was a positive meeting with over forty Rotarians and three visitors in attendance.  Rotary welcomed 1) Cindy Guidy (who previously visited on a number of occasions while we were on Zoom), Erika Oliver and Marty from Cowan’s Ford community. We hope that they all will consider joining and become a part of our group.

A super big announcement was that Denny Darr had been presented with the Expo Lifetime Achievement Award from The Federation of American Hospitals for 2022. Doubling the good news was that his sister had also won the same award on the same day.

President Ellen Fichtelman stated that primary focus for the day's meeting was to vote for the 2022 – 2023 Club officers. She then read to nominee’s names and asked for any additional nominee names.  None were offered so paper ballots were passed out for voting. A motion was made to make the vote by a raise of hands which was seconded and accepted. The slate of nominees was then approved for the Denver Lake Norman Rotary 2022-2023 year. They are as follows:

President: Perry Clark
President Elect: Andie Taylor
President Nominee: Craig Buhrendorf
Treasurer: Bill McLucas
Foundation: Jim Perry
Secretary: Cathy Smiley
Club Admin: Steve Baker & Ross Bulla
Membership: Brandon Blell

Committee Chairs:
Community Service: Sherry Reinhardt
International Service: Trudie Crawford
Sergeant at Arms: Jim Minor
Youth and Vocation Services: Thomas Eatmon
PR: Elijah Beatty (with assistance from Craig)
