A superb meeting last week as the always-entertaining, 6 TIME JA bowl–a-thon champion, Jim Perry walked us thru the benefits and easy uses of DACdb. It’s the database for all things Denver/Lake Norman Rotary as well as the district. Tons of info including (but certainly not limited to), contact info (and pictures) of our members, officers, as well as (recently added) minutes to our board meetings. As with any technology, the more you use it, the easier it gets! Take a moment, log in to DACdb.com and browse around for 5 minutes. Try it!
Katie Henry will have our program this week. Katie, (please see last week’s picture of her fishing in Mexico) has traveled extensively and will be discussing the MANGROVE PRESERVATION PROJECT. Always interesting, hopefully I will see you there!
Yours in Rotary!

Denver/Lake Norman Rotary has voted to again participate in the USO's annual campaign to support our men and women serving in uniform around the world who will miss major milestones in their lives while they're deployed protecting our Freedom, notably the Holiday Season. Monetary donations will be collected this month for the USO at weekly meetings via the customary "Helmet Fund". Donations will help make possible free phone calls home, free Wi-Fi connections in even the most remote locations, and 'USO2GO" kits of DVDs, video games, snacks, sports equipment, and other amenities "from Home" for our front-line Troops. Look for the helmet on a table near the sign-in area, and let's continue the club's awesome annual giving to the USO.
2022 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Lincoln County Rotary Student Loan Fund. For thirty years, the Rotary Clubs of Lincoln County have helped graduates of Lincoln County high schools gain their post-high school education dreams. The clubs created the fund to offer low interest loans to students, while offering area Rotarians the opportunity to put the Service Above Self Rotary Motto into action. Over the years the Lincoln County Rotary Student Loan Fund has fundraised more than $2.7 million and loaned over $7.2 million to more than 850 students from Lincoln County. In addition to the Rotary Student Loan Fund, the organization recently launched a new scholarship program, Rotary Rooted, partnering with area high schools to help students gain access to Gaston College classes while attending high school. The Rotary Rooted program covers fees and book costs for students that need assistance.
