President's Message
Greetings, Rotarians!
First off, let me just acknowledge Veterans Day! For those of you who have served, or who have family members who have served, THANK YOU for your service! We live in the greatest country on earth and it is in no small part due to the years of outstanding service and commitment of our men and women who are veterans.
Great crowd last week (with 7 visitors!) as we welcomed Denver resident Scott Fowler to Denver/Lake Norman Rotary. Scott always gives an entertaining talk and last week was no exception.
This week, Dr. Ike Nwanonviri will be speaking as Andie Taylor will be leading our meeting in my absence.
Don’t forget to bring your shoeboxes for OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD this week and supplies this week for next Monday’s Asbury Thanksgiving as we serve meals on November 21st.
Also, please be advised we will not meet NEXT WEEK (November 23rd).
Have a good week!

USO Helmet Fund's Wildly Successful Campaign Ends November 16
Denver/Lake Norman Rotary's Jim Minor reports that the USO "Helmet Fund" has taken in a whopping $999, as of November 9th.  Jim says "the response this year has been totally awesome!!"  He also notes that all donations are fully TAX DEDUCTIBLE and that all checks should be made out to "The USO".
Lastly, This year for its Holidays for the Troops program, the USO has added an option called "Long Distance Bedtime Stories," in which deployed parents have a chance to record bedtime stories for their children at home.  The USO works to make this, and its other 'amenities services', available even to those men and women serving in forward operating bases ["FOBs"] other words, out there on the "front lines".
