Hello to my fellow DLKN Rotarians!
It is hard to believe that we are almost through with July. It’s been a whirlwind so far but I hope everyone has enjoyed our meetings so far. Following up behind Steve Baker’s term as Club Administrator is no easy task but Vickey has done a fantastic job lining up great speakers.
Holy Moly last week’s meeting was jam packed with great information and fellowship! Our speaker was Rick Rowan. I would love to have him back to continue explaining the benefits Yoga has for Soldiers who suffer from PTSD as well as the rewards each of us can gain with a little meditation, stillness, and movement. He instructs free Yoga classes to all at Unity Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays in the Youth Center at 9:30. I know I will be attending a session soon to get my zen on.
We also inducted our 3 newest members: Melissa Pipgrass, Bonnie Best, and Jill Pedersen. They are ready to learn what committees we have and where they can serve best. So Committee Chairs please be thinking about how they may help with your goals for the coming year.
We also had 5 (FIVE) guests and that is not including Jake (the service pup in training with the Child Advocacy Center). Those are impressive numbers and the efforts of Ross for telling folks about our Rotary through social media is definitely getting the word out about this really cool thing we have going in our group.
Assistant District Governor Tracey Petrosky’s chat reminding folks of what Rotary International would like to see for annual donations for things like the CART fund, the Foundation, Polio Plus etc… We would love to see our group be 100% committed to these projects through giving if possible. Every little bit helps to achieve goals.
Next week we will be joined by the students who attended RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly) this year because of our generosity. It will be exciting to hear about all of the tools they have gained from attending. These bright, young people are our future and we need to nurture their skills so that they can go out and show the world what living by the Four Way Test is all about. Not just in leadership but also in fostering Peace and Civility. We could sure use a great deal more of that these days.
I hope you have a great week filled with doing good deeds and that Karma is taking notes!
Cheers!
Andie
