October is already flying by. There are always so many fun things to do and great places to eat/drink all things Pumpkin Spice. Fall festivals and fundraisers fill up the weekends. We have several events within our group. This past weekend was the District 7670 Foundation Banquet in Morganton. We have our Pints and Pinot for Polio coming up at Royal Bliss on the 26th to coincide with World Polio Day (Oct 24, 2023). This is not only a good time to raise money for the Polio Plus Society but a great way to get the word out to the community about our club. It’s also a super opportunity to get to know one another outside of our regular meetings.
Some of our newer members may not know why the Polio Plus Society was formed.
Polio. To put it simply in 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus programme, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed more than $2 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 3 billion children in 122 countries. (These were the numbers as of 6/22).
I do hope you are able to come out to the event and support the goals of our Polio Plus committee at this year’s event. If you cannot make it I hope you consider joining the Polio Plus Society - Here is a link to learn more and to donate:
