Tomorrow, October 24, 2023, is World Polio Day.   Rotary has led a global initiative focused on ridding the world of the disease for 30 years now, which has already resulted in the reduction of polio cases by 99.9% since its first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.  As Rotarians we learn about this very early on in our membership but many non-Rotarians, typically those born 1980 or later,  are not familiar with how horrible of a disease it was and the efforts taken to prevent it from resurfacing around the globe.  Purple is the signature color for the awareness of Polio.  So, wear your purple tomorrow and get excited to hear our very own Trudie Crawford speak to us on Wednesday about the Polio Plus Society and to learn more about ways we can continue to help.  And of course, I will see you on Thursday, from 5-8 pm, for Denver/Lake Norman Rotary’s 2nd Pints and Pinot for Polio event at Royal Bliss Brewery.  Grab a friend or 2 and be ready to have a great time!
